Training for the Dragon Boat teams will start on Saturday 30 April 2005 and will be on every Saturday from 3pm-5pm on the Han river in Ichon-dong, near the Turtle Ship Pier in Hangang Park.

Directions:

By Car: Heading south towards the Banpo bridge, stay right and head down
to the river road. Do a U turn and then turn right over the railway line,
head along the river to the car park located at the Turtle Point Pier.

By Subway: Take line no 4 to Ichon Station and use exit 4. Walk straight
ahead until you hit the river and the pier is directly on your right.

The training season will run from May through September. All gear and equipment is supplied and this includes the boats, paddles, life jackets and drums.

All you need are shorts and a t-shirt, a towel and a change of clothes for drinks on the riverbank after training. A fee of approximately W5,000 will be charged to each participator each week for training and soft drinks. Proceeds will also go towards t-shirt printing, entry fees and banners for future events.

Please register your interest with Duncan Cole at duncan.cole@austrade.gov.au or on mobile 011 9054 5085. Feel free to view the Korean Dragon Boat Association website for more information www.kdba.or.kr

Training Leaders

We welcome people with previous paddling or rowing experience to volunteer to take on a leadership role, which will involve keeping motivation and membership high. These team members will be involved in pre-training sessions with the KDBA and will be expected to help in training of new comers. We have a few people interested in taking on a leadership role already and seek a few more. Feel free to call Duncan to discuss on the above number.
